Project Type: Branding | Logo Design | Social Media Direction | Website & Mobile Visual Design | Pop-up Booth
Programs Used: Illustrator | Photoshop | Figma
Role: Designer
Crafting a compelling initiative for the "Curb Your Dog" campaign, promoting responsible pet ownership, posed the primary challenge. The City of San Diego commissioned us to create a pop-up kiosk conveying this message effectively. Interpreting the prompt, weaving a cohesive narrative, and establishing a distinctive brand identity were complex tasks. Our aim was to turn this conceptual campaign into a tangible and engaging sidewalk installation.
Our solutions
We propose creating a non-profit organization with a strong online presence, prioritizing community outreach. Our plan involves a website promoting tailored events for seniors to encourage active participation. Simultaneously, we'll highlight afterschool programs for teenagers, inspiring them to volunteer. The website will serve as a hub for seniors' events, fostering community connection, and showcasing teen volunteer opportunities. Our initiative aims to bridge generations, fostering community and active engagement.

The Brand Identity
Logo Approach
For Seniors & Paws, we focused on a simple, legible typeface for clarity. The logo icon visually connects with the core concerns: the well-being of seniors and their canine companions. We chose lowercase letters for the tagline to maintain continuity with the logo and convey approachability and cohesion, aligning with our organization's values.
The Naming
In choosing a name for our non-profit, we prioritized our target audience – the seniors in our community, with their dogs as a secondary focus. We aimed for a name that is clear, clever, and easily recognizable.
Tagline
In crafting the tagline for Seniors & Paws, we drew inspiration from the classic saying "Teaching old dogs new tricks." Our twist was to replace "old dogs" with "old paws" to symbolize the seniors, emphasizing that, with the community's support, there's always room to teach them new tricks.
Social Media Strategy
We chose Instagram due to its popularity, especially among the youth demographic, making it an effective outreach channel. Our content strategy focuses on visually appealing images featuring individuals of various age groups and adorable dogs, engaging both younger and older audiences.
The Seniors & Paws Instagram page showcases events and shares compelling stories from Bark Stories, Senior’s Tails, and Youth & Paws. Through engaging Instagram Stories, we provide links for event sign-ups and detailed narratives, creating a central hub for community connection, information, and active participation.
Website Direction
The Seniors & Paws website design emphasizes user-friendliness, starting with a simplified homepage featuring a heartwarming image of a senior with her dog. The top menu guides visitors to explore more, whether it's ways to help seniors or support their furry companions. The homepage displays the latest “Neighborhood Bark Stories” blog, ongoing fundraisers, organization goals, and a prominent call to action encouraging visitors to become volunteers.
